It’s a Boy

My cousin is expecting a baby boy. I created this card for her baby shower.

The hippo and balloons outline stickers are from Krazy Kreations. Click here to see how I add glitter to an outline sticker and then color it.

NOTE: I added the nose and mouth pieces to the hippo after it was colored and glittered.

Adding string on balloons can be a bit challenging, so I wanted to show you a couple of ways to do it.

For these balloons, I placed some Designer Dries Clear Adhesive under the balloons and stuck the string into the middle of the puddle of glue. I knew I wanted to use dimensional foam adhesive to adhere the hippo, so I secured the bottoms of the strings with a piece of transparent tape. Super easy!

 

Then I added a sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs and some google eyes … what do you think?

Upcycled Tins

This nautical pen holder is a great gift for anyone with an office. It is also easy, inexpensive and fun.

Start with a washed can. I think this one held black olives, but a soup can would work as well. Be sure to use a can opener that does not leave sharp edges when it opens the can.

Paint the can with acrylic paint or spray paint and make sure it is completely dry. I let mine dry overnight.

Once dry, add a strip of Elizabeth Craft Designs Transparent Double Sided Tape around the bottom of the can.

Then wrap twine around the base.

Next, apply glitter to the Peel-Offs. You can see how to do this, here.

And color them with Copic markers.

Cut out the stickers and adhere them to the can with dimensional adhesive foam.

Add some to the backside as well.

Cut a piece of Velvet Adhesive Sheet to fit the bottom of the can.

 

Since these sheets are adhesive backed, they attach easily to the bottom of the can. It gives the can a finished look and keeps it from damaging the tabletop!

Thankful Butterflies

Despite the cold and 2-feet of snow stacked outside my front door, I thought it was time for a little summer. I’ve been hooked on blue and green lately, so I created this thank you card.

I started with an orange Shimmer Sheetz. I ran it through an embossing folder and then lightly sanded the color off of the top of it.

I added a strip of paper from Bo Bunny.

Next, I added glitter to Elizabeth Crafts Designs butterfly, flowers and leaves stickers. To see a video on how easy this technique is, click here. I love Elizabeth Crafts Design Glitter because you can color on it with your Copic, Tombow or Distress Ink markers. This is the ONLY glitter I know of that is safe for your markers.

Here are the colors I used …

After coloring, I used a craft knife to carefully cut out each piece and adhere it to the card.

I used dimensional foam to adhere the flowers and butterflies to the card.

Then, I added a bit of ribbon and cut out the word “Thank You” from an Elizabeth Craft Die.

Beautiful Birthday Card

 

A beautiful, elegant and sparkly birthday card is easy to make with products from Elizabeth Crafts.

I made this one for my mother-in-law.

For the background, I used Shimmer Sheetz and an embossing folder to create the background. Then I used sandpaper to take off the color on the raised edges, leaving them white.

The sentiment is a sticker.

The cupcake is another sticker, filled with glitter and then colored with Copic markers. I love this technique from Elizabeth Crafts. Please remember, this is the ONLY glitter that is safe to color on. Other glitters may ruin your marker nibs.

To keep up the sparkle, I added a bit of gray metallic paper.

I love how it turned out … what do you think?

Snowman Ornament

Today is a quick post … I’m off to Sunset Shores for the weekend where I will be cropping and teaching four classes! Each of the classes is completely different — we’re making a card, an ornament, a mosaic page and an altered spoon. I still have lots to pack and get ready for the event, but I wanted to share the ornament we’ll be making …

This is a group of experienced croppers, so I expect lots of variations on my sample, but we’ll all be starting with a snowman ornament from Globecraft Memories. (If they aren’t available in your area, click on the link to the right to order direct.)

I used a bit of paint and flock to cover the snowman (and discovered after the fact that I should have painted the snowman white so the flock remained white!). For the background, I painted the globe and then added Pure Sparkle Silver glitter.

For this frame, I kept it simple and just used Mermaid Tears Enamel Powder.

The insert and little Piccolo pieces are painted with Cool-Set Enamel. The leaves are coated with Mossy Glen Enamel Powder.

After I finished the pieces, I coated the ring and accents with Glastique for a durable shine.

I think he’s cute and I cannot wait to see what spin my friends put on theirs.

 

Technique Thursday: Elizabeth Craft’s Stickers

Welcome to Thursday!

Today’s technique is going to use Elizabeth Craft’s Stickers. These simple outline stickers come in a plethora of designs — florals, elegant candles, silly birds, tea sets and more.

We’re going to be working with Glitter Ritz glitter, double-stick adhesive and Copic markers, along with the stickers. Believe it or not, this special glitter can actually be colored with Copics, Tombow or Ranger Distress Ink markers. So, you only need to buy one color of glitter and then use the markers you already have on hand.
