Flowers in a Box

Each month, the Elizabeth Craft Designs’ Design Team participates in a special challenge. This month’s theme is flowers and I decided to make a box filled with them.

036I started with a simple box card made from green cardstock. I covered the panels and exterior of the box with new paper from Lawn Fawn.

Then, I began cutting out flowers of all shapes and sizes with dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I began with Flower Set 1, which I cut with Shimmer Sheetz and Velvet Adhesive Sheets and then layered together.

039Next, I cut out the Flourish with Flowers die out of a Velvet Adhesive Sheet. Since it did not fit on the box panel, I needed to remove the adhesive off of the back side.

040This is easily accomplished with baby powder. Use your finger or a small paint brush to coat the backside in baby powder. The adhesive will no longer be sticky (and it smells good, too!)

223Then, I began filling in the space with leaves cut from the Curvy Leaves die. I used two different shades of green Shimmer Sheetz to add contrast.

222And flowers cut with the Bunch of Flowers die.

221HINT: Use the metal adaptor plate and run it through the Big Shot twice for the best results.

ECD_Candy_Spiegel_March_DCI added pearls and gems to the centers of the flowers.

For a final touch, I added the words With Love from the Assorted Words peel-off sheet.

Birthday Card in a Box

box card Candy Spiegel 2My baby girl turned 21 on Monday.

I wanted to celebrate with something a little more special than just a simple card. So, I made her a card in a box.

I got the directions/measurements for making the box from Amanda Sevall Designs. Click here to get the directions.

box card Candy SpiegelI used leftover paper to cover the box. I added an anchor die cut and anchor washi tape because she anchors are special to her (they remind her of her brother who is in the Navy).

I stamped 21 with a Close To My Heart stamp set and then used a circle punch to cut them out. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Just Rite; the flowers and leaves are McGill punches; the feathers are from Bella Blvd.; the flourishes are from a Sizzix die and the heart is from Linnie Blooms.
