Time for Tea

I have been having a grand time playing with the new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

When I shop as a consumer, I rarely buy a more costly item, like a die or rubber stamp, unless I am certain I will get a lot of use from it. So, when I create projects especially for a company, like this card that I made for ECD’s booth at CHA, I strive to show a slightly different use for the product.

This tea card uses the new Tags & More 7 — Vine dies. Just by comparing the product packaging and the card I made, you can see how versatile this set can be.

To turn the tag die into a card, start with a folded card.

Line up the top of the tag die with the top of the card. However, shift it a bit to the left so it does not cut the fold. Add the scalloped die (included in the set) along the bottom. Use Washi tape to hold the dies in place. Add the metal plate (since you are cutting through two pieces of thick cardstock — I used 80-lb.) and run through your die-cutting machine.

Snip off the cut portion along the top. Use a paper trimmer to trim off the right side so everything is even.

Open the card (so you are just cutting the cover) and line up the leaves die (included in the set). Use Washi tape to hold it in place and then run through your die-cutting machine.

Now you are ready to decorate.

I used the new letter dies to cut out Time for Tea for the inside of the card.

I added one of the corners (included with the die set) and some background paper to the front. I used Peel-Off Stickers and Silk Microfine Glitter and Copic markers to create the tea set.
